Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy
Toronto offers a subsidy program that can help you lower your home’s flooding risk. With a licenced WaterWorks plumber, home owners may determine that a backwater valve on the sanitary sewage and/ or stormwater connection would provide adequate basement flooding protection. The available subsidy equals 80% of the invoiced cost up to a maximum of $1,250 including eligible labour, materials, permit and taxes. Contact WaterWorks for more information.
Tree Root Drain Grants
Toronto also offers grant assistance if the roots of a city-owned tree block the sewer connection pipe between your home’s exterior foundation wall and your property line. Your property cannot exceed the lifetime maximum amount of $2,000 per property in sewer line repair or replacement work, including exterior work, whether partial or full replacement, and internal work (within the building).
